Masonic Education

Bro. Richard K. Hiles, PM - District Chairman

Masonic Education is a critical part of a new member’s introduction to Freemasonry, as well as for the continued fulfillment of those with long experience in the Fraternity. These objectives come together with the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge’s Mentoring Program, in which experienced Brothers assist in a new Mason’s entrance and growth in the Fraternity.

Sometimes Instruction is confused for Masonic Education… After all, being knowledgeable in Instruction of our ritual is a useful – and dare I say, necessary – component of membership.

However, Masonic Education is a much deeper journey into the history and teachings of Freemasonry. Each individual Lodge, and the District as a whole, has a committee on Masonic Education, with the aim of providing this deeper understanding of our Fraternity.

As an added benefit for both new and experienced brothers, informal Masonic Education time is offered by Brother Hiles on Monday evenings at the Erie Temple. If you would like to learn more, contact the Masonic Education team using our Contact Us page.

In addition to the education opportunities within your own Lodge and District, there are many opportunities at the Grand Lodge level and in outside publications:
